Collection: Ceramika Art Collection

Ceramika Artystyczna is a cooperative of artists, mostly women, who hand-make and paint traditional Polish stoneware. Their pottery is both functional for everyday use and beautiful enough to be highly collectible.

  • Origin: The company started in 1950 in Bolesławiec, Poland, cultivating the traditions of a former German pottery factory, Julius Paul und Sohn.
  • Production: Each piece is meticulously handcrafted from local, durable clay and hand-painted with intricate designs. The pottery is then glazed and fired at high temperatures to make it solid and durable.
  • Patterns: The pottery features a variety of designs, from traditional patterns to unique (unikat) ones, that often include floral and geometric motifs.
  • Durability: The pottery is durable, chip-resistant, and safe for use in the microwave, freezer, and oven.

The History Behind The Polish Pottery Loop-Handled Bowl (featured)

During WWII, the German Army invaded Russia by passing through Poland.
After their defeat near Moscow, the Germans retreated back through Poland while being pursued by the Russian Army. Poland was decimated.

Small Polish communities banded together and would gather in the town square. The people would donate what foods they could (onions, carrots, radishes, etc.) to the community kettle for soup.

After cooking, villagers would come by with a “soup scoop” to get their portion. The handle design allowed them to get soup without burning their hands.
